Breville BFP800XL Sous Chef Food Processor – Features
Size is important for all small kitchen appliances because you want to be able to prepare food with the least amount of repetitive processing. At the same time, you don’t want to waste money and counter space on too big an appliance with spare capacity that is rarely used.
The Breville BFP800XL is for those that have a large family or often entertain many guests. It has a large 16-cup capacity bowl. For smaller jobs, it also comes with a 2.5-cup mini processing bowl for sauces or nuts. Both bowls are BPA-free and dishwasher-safe.
You will love the 5.5″ super-wide feed chute because it saves so much time by reducing the need for pre-cutting most fruits and veggies. A 1-3/4″ inner feed chute handles smaller ingredients. The chute comes with large and small food pushers.
Breville is an Australian company created in 1932 to manufacture radios. During WWII it made mine detectors. In 1956 Breville began making small appliances. In 1982 it sold its European ownership of the Breville brand to Jarden. Outside of Europe, the Breville brand is a division of the Breville Group, which also has bases in the U.S., Canada, Hong Kong, and New Zealand.
The reputation of Breville is excellent. It is well-known for its juicers due to the documentary “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead”. All of its appliances including its food processors are well-built, versatile, and durable.
The simple styling of the Breville BFP800XL Sous Chef Food Processor with Stainless Steel finish looks good in any modern kitchen.
Function and Performance
This is one of the most powerful food processors around. You can trust its 1200-watt direct drive motor to easily handle any prep task needed. A feed chute safety system ensures misoperation. The motor will not start unless the bowl, lid, and large food pusher are all locked in the correct position.
Simple pushbutton speed controls start the machine in either continuous or pulse mode. The motor is protected by a thermal overload system. If it stops and the OVERLOAD icon in the LCD flashes, turn the machine OFF and wait for the motor to cool down. After 30 minutes you can start it again.
Non-skid rubber feet prevent the machine from walking around the counter while in operation.
It has a silicone seal so you won’t have to worry about leakage of liquids while processing large volumes.
The processing bowl has a full 16-cup capacity for dry ingredients and 12 cups of liquid (wet) ingredients.
An LCD display is used to set processing time. It can count up or down and stops the motor when the time is reached in countdown mode.
The Breville BFP800XL Sous Chef Food Processor includes a set of 8 discs and blades in a convenient accessory storage container. The slicing disc can be adjusted to 24 thicknesses from 0.3mm up to 8.0mm. It’s like having 24 different slicing discs. The 8 discs and blades included are:
- Adjustable, 24 settings slicing disc
- Julienne disc
- French fry cutting disc
- Whisking disc
- Reversible shredding disc
- Micro-serrated universal S blade
