Breville BJE430SIL The Juice Fountain Cold

Product Overview

The Breville BJE430SIL Juice Fountain Cold is a centrifugal type juicer which makes it fast and easy to make homemade juices.

The Breville BJE430SIL Juice Fountain Cold has an extra-wide 3″ diameter feed chute. This allows whole fruits like apples to be processed without cutting, a real time saver when you’re in a hurry in the morning. As long as you clean the machine right away after juicing, clean up is a breeze.

The Breville BJE430SIL Cold Spin Technology™ produces very little heat, less than 2ºF. temperature rise, unlike most centrifugal juicers that produce more nutrient damaging heat. Oxidation still occurs due to the speed of the juicing blades but the Breville BJE430SIL has a tight sealing container that when immediately stored in the refrigerator will keep juice fresh for up to 72 hours, similar to masticating and cold press juices.

The Breville Juice Fountain Cold, like all centrifugal juicers, produces less juice than slower, more efficient masticating juicers. The pulp is, therefore, wetter but can be squeezed through a cheesecloth or food strainer/filter bag if this is of concern to you.

Pros:

  • Fast and convenient
  • Affordable pricing
  • Large feed chute
  • Cold Spin Technology™ (keeps juice cool)
  • 850-watts of power
  • Overload protection LED
  • Safety locking arm – cover must be locked in place for operation
  • Large capacity (70 oz.) Seal and Store juice jug extends shelf life (up to 72 hours)
  • Large (3.6 qt.) pulp container capacity
  • BPA-free plastic parts
  • Easy to clean – most parts are dishwasher safe except the juice cover, juice jug, and sealing lid which must be hand washed
  • Dimensions: 14.5″ x 10.5″ x 17.6″
  • Stainless Steel Micro Mesh Filter
  • Stainless Steel Cutters

Cons:

  • Juice production inefficient – need to squeeze wet juice from pulp
  • Leafy greens are difficult to process with centrifugal juicers, it is recommended that they are bundled tightly together or juiced along with hard vegetables to extract the most juice from them.
  • Oxidizes juice, degrading some of the health benefits
  • 1-year limited warranty

What Fruits And Veggies Does It Juice?

The Breville BJE430SIL Juice Fountain Cold has two speeds, low for soft produce like citrus fruit and tomatoes and high for hard vegetables like beetroot and carrots.

Leafy greens and wheatgrass are not processed efficiently on their own. To juice these it is recommended that you bundle them tightly together or sandwich them between harder vegetables.

Extremely happy with this machine. This is my third juicer, the first one was a Juiceman Jr. and second was the commercial Champion. I had problems with both of the other juicers, but the Breville outshines them both! I would recommend this to anyone.

Best. Juicer. Everrrrrrrr!
Don’t hesitate. Been using it every single day since I got it. It’s just awesome.
One side note, put a plastic bag in the disposal container to cut back on the cleaning time. You’re welcome!

Time vs Yield
“MEH” The Breville replaced a 1988 Waring juicer. I do have the Omega 8006 masticating juicer. I am doing a 60-day juice reboot. With the masticating unit, it seemed like I was spending all day in front of the juicer. I tried this one to save time- which it does. The second day, the plastic chute broke during use. Customer service sent me the part. at no cost. which arrived in a week.
My beef is; the waste when juicing greens, apples, and carrots. Wet chunks are left in the pulp container. This is harsh on the wallet, especially when using organic produce. I took the pulp from the container, put it through my masticating juicer which yielded an additional four cups of juice.

Pros;
saves time
easy to clean
fantastic customer service
fast and relatively quiet
large opening
does well with melon, pineapple, cucumber, lemons, oranges

Cons;
does not do well with apples, greens, root vegetables (leaves chunks)

My Final Opinion

For fast and easy juice making at an affordable price with a juice shelf storage life of up to 72 hours, I give the Breville BJE430SIL Juice Fountain Cold a score of 90 out of 100 and a recommended Buy.

If you are looking for a juicer that efficiently extracts the maximum amount of healthy juice, no oxidation, and you are willing to spend more time preparing and possibly cleaning then you should look into masticating type juicers like the Omega J8006 Nutrition Center Juicer, the Omega TWN30S Twin Gear Juicer or the Champion Juicer Model G5-NG853S.
