Cuisinart DFP-14BCNY 14-Cup Food Processor – Overview

This Cuisinart food processor is a powerful, large capacity machine with very sharp slicing and shredding discs. An extra-large feed tube handles whole fruits and vegetables saving you time pre-cutting. Also, chopping, slicing, shredding, and mixing are done quickly. You will love spending more time with your family and less time preparing meals.

Simple functionality complements its sleek, modern-classic look. Motor control is simple with only two paddle switches; “ON” for continuous operation and “OFF/PULSE”. Both continuous and pulse modes are at the same speed. Pulse only operates the motor while you are pushing it giving you precise control over the final product.

You want a food processor that doesn’t leave food splattered on the walls of the bowl or stuck under the blade. The Cuisinart DFP-14BCNY 14-Cup Food Processor has very sharp cutting edges that make clean cuts to prevent splatter. And small gaps between the chopping blade and bowl bottom and sides ensure no food gets stuck anywhere.

Watch this video to see if this 14-cup food processor can chop one clove of garlic.

It comes with an extra-large feed chute and two pushers. One large for whole fruits and vegetables and one for smaller ingredients and drizzling in liquids.

Brand

Cuisinart developed the food processor in America in the early 1970s. Carl Sontheimer saw mechanical food prep machines while traveling in France in 1971 and wanted to bring the time-saving technology home.

Celebrity chefs such as James Beard, Julia Child, Craig Claiborne and others started using the Cuisinart food processor publicly by 1975 and the popularity of the brand soared.

Cuisinart is now owned by the Conair Company. It continues to produce the famous food processors with the same high-quality, versatility, and durability that made Cuisinart an icon of this industry.

Appearance

The Cuisinart DFP-14BCNY 14-Cup Food Processor is simple but very stylish. The stainless steel base and clear, BPA-free, Lexan bowl look good in any kitchen decor.

Function and Performance

The Cuisinart DFP-14BCNY 14-Cup Food Processor is equipped with a 720-watt motor. Thus, not only is it powerful enough to slice, shred, and chop loads of produce, it also mixes and kneads batches of bread or pizza dough quickly and easily.

Sharp, stainless steel discs, and blades are durable and versatile. You will love the precise, professional results that you can achieve with them. Soft fruits and veggies like tomatoes are cut cleanly and not splattered on the sides of the bowl.

The blade has very tight clearances to the sides and bottom of the bowl. This means that you can emulsify mayonnaise to perfection. And, as shown in the video, you can even mince a single garlic clove.

For safety, the work bowl and cover must be installed and locked in place or the machine won’t operate. The motor has automatic, temperature-controlled protection. If the motor overheats the processor will stop. In this case, just shut off the unit for a 10-minute cooldown period before trying to start it again.

Cleanup is quick and easy since all the removable parts are dishwasher-safe, giving you even more time with your friends and family.

  1. The Cuisinart food processor looks really similar to the Magimix one that i have. Do you know how it compares?
I love the Magimix but my problem with it is that its very heavy to lift from the drawer to the counter. Do you know which one is heavier. My Magimix is still quite knew, I’ve only used it a handful of times so I’m not really sure what it is capable of. However, the Cuisinart functions sound amazing- it sounds like it can basically do everything. Shame I didn’t see this post a couple of weeks ago but now I’ll know for the future!

    1. Hi Hollie Rose,

Magimix is a French made food processor manufactured by Robot-Coupe. The similarity to the Cuisinart DFP-14BCNY is no coincidence. Robot-Coupe distributed Cuisinart products for many years but launched a product of its own in 1978. It claimed to have developed the food processor in France and said “It used to be called Cuisinart.” Advertising battles got ugly in the 1980s and lawsuits followed. Robot-Coupe now say “Invented by Magimix”.

Although they look similar and weigh about the same (18 pounds) there are significant differences. One striking difference is that the Magimix motor has a 30 year guarantee compared to the 5-year motor warranty of Cuisinart. The Magimix comes with 4 bowls (6-cup, 12-cup, and 16-cup), 2 metal blades for the different size bowls, 2 grating discs (2mm and 4mm), and lots more accessories. This comes with a huge difference in price. Depending on the model and where you purchased, a Magimix can cost from 4 to 8 times as much as the current Cuisinart price.

Hope this answers your question. Thanks for visiting my website and taking the time to leave your comment.
