Hamilton Beach 10-Cup Food Processor
and Vegetable Chopper with Bowl Scraper – Overview

The Hamilton Beach 10-Cup Food Processor and Vegetable Chopper with Bowl Scraper mixes, chops, slices, shreds, purées, grates, and, minces food faster than by hand. And to make things even easier it comes with a bowl scraper. No more disassembling your food processor to scrape the sides of the bowl with a spatula.

It is a compact machine weighing under 7 pounds and taking up little counter space. However, the 10-cup food processor handles a large quantity of food. And with the bowl scraper all the food is processed completely for more efficient use of the bowl’s capacity.

Save more time and effort with its large feed chute. You won’t have to cut ingredients into small size chunks for processing.

Capacity

Food processors come in many varying sizes and capacities. For a single person in a small apartment or dormitory a 2 or 3 cup mini-processor would work nicely. But, for an average family preparing a meal just for themselves, a 10-cup size is the ideal. Larger sizes up to 16-cups capacity are geared to large gatherings, potlucks or even restaurants.

Therefore the Hamilton Beach 10-Cup Food Processor and Vegetable Chopper with Bowl Scraper is the right capacity for a family.

The Hamilton Beach 10-Cup Food Processor and Vegetable Chopper with Bowl Scraper is rated 450-watts.

It is equipped with 2 speeds to handle various tasks with ease. A simple control knob selects speeds 1 or 2, OFF, or Pulse mode.

Pulse mode allows you to process ingredients to your preferred size.

Safety

To prevent accidental operation when the machine is not completely assembled the unit will not operate unless the bowl and lid are correctly locked in place.

The bowl must be aligned on the base and turned clockwise till it locks. And the lid must be aligned properly on the bowl and turned clockwise to lock into place.

Cleaning

The Hamilton Beach 10-Cup Food Processor and Vegetable Chopper with Bowl Scraper is quickly and easily cleaned.

Clean the base, control knob, and cord by wiping with a damp cloth or sponge.

Hamilton Beach 10-Cup Food Processor
and Vegetable Chopper with Bowl Scraper – My Final Opinion

The Hamilton Beach 10-Cup Food Processor and Vegetable Chopper with Bowl Scraper is a compact machine but with a large bowl ideal for the average family. It can quickly chop, mix, mince, slice, shred or purée most ingredients. It is easily cleaned. And it is very affordable.

However there are things that it can’t handle well, like grinding coffee beans and kneading dough. Also, it appears somewhat unreliable with many complaints about early failures. And it only has a limited 1-year warranty with you, the customer, paying for shipping costs to and from the repair shop. Thus I give it a 8.0 out of 10 and a cautionary Buy.

  1. Good afternoon Ed,

After reading your review of the Hamilton Beach 10 Cup I must confess I have mixed feelings.

A good feature is the large feed chute. That it does not function if not assembled correctly is a good safety measure especially when there are children in the house. Another good feature is it does not take too much time to clean.

On the other side, one has to pay for shipping during the 1-year guaranty? That I really find strange and am not very pleased. If something goes bad during the first year the manufacturer should come up for those costs also.

I think I will not choose this machine when I need a new one.

    Regards, Taetske

    1. Hi Taetske,

Totally agree with you on the warranty issue. That’s why I always point it out as a CON when I find guarantees with that limitation. And unfortunately there are a lot of them like that.

If the warranty is your concern, read my detailed review for the Breville BFP800XL Sous Chef Food Processor which has a 1-year limited warranty but pays for shipping.

  2. No coffee beans? dang! that’s kind of a deal breaker for me. I do however like the scraping feature that cleans the bin as it chops. These days though my NutriBullet and I have been getting along just fine, could you compare this to a NutriBullet. Is there any reason I should use the Hamilton Beach over the NutriBullet?

    1. Hi Vince,

Thanks for taking time to leave your great comments and question. If you have been using your NutriBullet and getting along just fine then you probably won’t find a need for the Hamilton Beach 10-Cup Food Processor.

The Nutribullet is more a blender than a food processor though. It can be used to puree, crush, blend, mince, and pulse to make things like salsa. However, it doesn’t chop, mix, slice or shred like the Hamilton Beach.

Yes, it’s a shame that it doesn’t grind coffee beans. But, most food processors and blenders don’t do that very well. There just isn’t fine enough control as far as I’m concerned. Dedicated burr type coffee grinders with control over the coarseness of the grind can’t be beat for that.

  4. Thanks for the review on this! I am always searching high and low for reviews on kitchen appliances as I am a cooking fanatic. I love getting creative, and I find that having a food processor aids in that process so much.

I currently use a Ninja, but would definitely look into this brand if something ever malfunctions on my current one.

    Thanks for sharing,

    Ciara

    1. Hi Ciarra,

Thanks for your great comments. Ninja is also a good brand, it should last you a long time. Which one do you have?

One advantage that the Hamilton Beach food processor has over any of the Ninja’s is its 10-cup capacity. I don’t know of any Ninja’s with that large a capacity.

Here’s a link to one of the Ninja food processors that I have reviewed, Ninja Supra Kitchen System BL780 Review. It is a food processor as well as a blender.
