KitchenAid KSM75 Classic Plus Series 4.5 Quart Tilt-Head Stand Mixer – Overview

If you use a stand mixer on a regular basis but only for your immediate family, but sometimes make a big batch of cookies for special occasions, then you probably need a mid-range stand mixer.

With too large a mixer you will have a huge, bulky machine sitting underused, taking up a lot of counter space and too heavy to move around out of your way.

On the other hand, too small a mixer and you will find yourself making multiple batches when larger groups of people are coming over.

The KitchenAid KSM75 Classic Plus Series 4.5 Quart Tilt-Head Stand Mixer fits the “just right” size category, not too big and not too small.

It also has a built-in multipurpose attachment hub with over 15 optional attachments. You will love the versatility added by the useful tools such as food grinders, pasta makers and more.

Size

As I’ve said before, size is one of the most important features of a stand mixer. Too big and you are wasting money and space. Too small and your workload increases because you have to mix many small batches for a large group.

The 4.5-quart stainless steel bowl is just the right size for the daily needs of a mid-size family with the capacity to spare for bigger gatherings of family and friends.

Brand

The KitchenAid brand is well known for high quality, durability, ease of use, and reputable service and support.

The KitchenAid stand mixer is the brainchild of Herbert Johnston, an engineer working for the Hobart Corporation in 1914. Whirlpool bought KitchenAid in 1985. It is, for the most part a made in America product.

According to Wikipedia,

“Today, some KitchenAid products are manufactured in Ohio, South Carolina, Mississippi, Indiana, Arkansas, Ontario, and Quebec while others are manufactured in China…”

The KitchenAid brand’s reputation remains one of the best in the business.

Appearance

The KitchenAid KSM75 Classic Plus Series 4.5 Quart Tilt-Head Stand Mixer is similar in appearance to the other KitchenAid series of tilt-head stand mixers. It is a beautiful addition to any kitchen and is available on Amazon in two colors, tangerine orange or white.

Function and Performance

The KitchenAid KSM75 Classic Plus Series 4.5 Quart Tilt-Head Stand Mixer comes with a 4.5-quart stainless steel bowl. This is enough capacity to mix dough for 6 dozen cookies, 3 loaves of bread or 6 pounds of mashed potatoes in one batch.

Easy access for adding ingredients and changing out attachments is provided by the tilt-head design. The head can be locked in place in operating position to prevent it from jumping up when kneading a heavy dough.

It is equipped with 59-point planetary mixing action. The attachments orbit around the bowl while at the same time spinning independently. This action provides total bowl coverage and complete ingredient mixing.

The 275-watt motor is powerful enough for most jobs, although it does seem to labor when mixing large heavy loads.

You will find that the 10-speeds are more than enough for all of your mixing, whipping, and kneading requirements.

The power hub makes it into a  multipurpose culinary center by the addition of optional attachments. Use it to make pasta, ground beef, sausage, fruit and vegetable juice or even ice cream.

  1. Very thorough and informative review.
I never though about how important the size was until you mentioned that mixing too small a batch could just mean you would be there all day mixing. That is so true because there have been times I have done that.

I really appreciate the fact you had pictures to go with the descriptions because that helps a visual person like me.
