The 5 Best Juicer Blender Combos for 2018
Sometimes you want a smoothie. Other times you want a juice. Can’t decide whether to get a juicer, a blender or both? How about a juicer blender combo or multi-function appliance that can do both? Don’t buy anything until you read this post, The 5 Best Juicer Blender Combos for 2018.
This is one of the most difficult posts that I have tackled. In one of my previous reviews, I was asked by a commenter if she should get a blender and a juicer because she liked to make both smoothies and juices.
I thought that it would be a good idea if she got a combination juicer-blender. Makes sense, right?
Unfortunately, easier said than done. Why?
Below is what I found while researching this difficult but very interesting subject. Read “What Is The Difference Between Juicers And Blenders?” to find out what makes this such so difficult.
Which Should You Buy - Juicer Or Blender?

Which Is Better For You – Juices Or Smoothies?
Smoothie fans point to the fact that smoothies, also known as whole fruit juices, contain the fiber of the fruit and vegetables. Fiber is essential for a healthy diet. Juices do not retain the fiber which is ejected as pulp.
Soluble fiber helps lower blood cholesterol and glucose levels.
Insoluble fiber promotes the movement of material through your intestines thus preventing or relieving constipation.
Read the benefits of dietary fiber at the Mayo Clinic website.
The other benefit of smoothies is the slower absorption of sugar. For those with diabetes, this is a very important consideration. Fruit juice is very high in sugar and calories. If you are diabetic and want to juice, make sure that you mix fruit and veggies to reduce the sugar content.
Juice fans, however, say that your body needs a rest from too much fiber (more than 70g a day) in your diet. This can cause bloating, gas, and constipation. A person on a vegan, whole food or raw diet may experience this.
Juice also contains more vitamins, minerals, and nutrients. Blending depends on rapidly spinning blades that add heat and oxidation to the contents. Heat damages nutrients while oxidation quickly deteriorates the freshness and taste.
Smoothies and juice made by centrifugal juicers both depend on rapidly spinning blades or cutters. Thus, they have to be consumed as soon as possible after being made.
Juice from slow masticating juicers can be stored refrigerated in sealed containers for up to 24 hours after being produced.
Smoothies and juices both have pros and cons. Which is best for you depends on your particular health needs as well as what you want.
For diabetics and those who have problems with constipation or bowel irregularity, smoothies are recommended.
If you don’t have those problems, or if you are on a high fiber diet, or if you want a quick way to get more fruits and veggies without the fiber into your diet, then juicing will work fine.
Still can’t decide? Read on to find out how each one works and if a juicer-blender combo is right for you.
What Is The Difference Between Juicers And Blenders?
Juicers and blenders are made to do two very different jobs. Blenders are designed to make smoothies, shakes, and a host of other products of varying thickness. Juicers, on the other hand, are designed to make clear juice with little to no pulp.
Following are the characteristics of blenders:
- Powerful motors
- Rapidly spinning blades
- Single container for blending ingredients into final product
- Ingredients are liquified by pulverizing contents into small particles
- Ingredients can also be chopped into desired consistencies by pulsing the blades without liquifying
Juicers have the following traits:
- Less powerful motors
- Centrifugal juicers have rapidly spinning cutters and mesh screens
- Masticating juicers have slow turning augers, single or dual
- Fruits and vegetables are squeezed to extract the juice
- Mesh filters then separate the juice from the pulp
- Components are a feed chute,a juicing mechanism, a pulp container (internal or external), and a juice container
As you can see, juicers and blenders are two vastly different machines designed for two different processes to obtain two different results.
In order to make a juicer-blender combo an engineer has to make compromises and add complexity. As a result, most of the combo appliances on the market do one task well and the other poorly. Or, in the worst case, do both jobs poorly.
Does that leave you with no options other than buying two appliances? Decide for yourself. Here are The 5 Best Juicer Blender Combos for 2018 that I was able to find.
Breville BJB840XL Juice And Blend Dual-Purpose Juicer And Blender

The juicer has a 3-inch (84 cm) wide feed chute that reduces pre-cutting time and effort allowing whole fruits and veggies to be fed directly into the machine.
According to Amazon, the unit is 1200-watts but the Breville website states that the motor is 2.0 Horsepower rated 1500-watts. In either case, it is powerful enough to blend both hard and soft ingredients with equal ease.
A Hemisphere™ bowl-hugging blade system eliminates food traps.
There are 5 Juicing and 5 Blending speed settings, mix, chop, blend, liquefy, and purée, plus pulse, ice, and

Kuvings BPA-Free Whole Slow Juicer Silver B6000SR With Sorbet Maker And Smoothie Strainer
The Kuvings BPA-Free Whole Slow Juicer Silver B6000SR With Sorbet Maker And Smoothie Strainer is primarily a juicer with strainer attachments for making sorbet and smoothies.
It is a slow masticating juicer (60 rpm) meaning that you will get a high-quality juice that has not damaged the nutrients and enzymes in the juice due to the addition of heat. Oxidation is also not added so the juice will last longer and retain flavor longer if stored in a sealed container and refrigerated.
A 3″ feed chute is meant to save time and effort by avoiding having to cut whole fruit and vegetables into small chunks reducing prop time up to 40%.
Pulp container capacity is fairly small at 13.5-oz. (400 mL). Juice is directed out of a spout with ‘Smart Juice’ valve into a container of your choice. You will have to change the pulp container often when making several cups of juice at one time.
Due to the slow juicing process, the unit is much quieter than centrifugal juicers. Also, it does not have to have as much power. However, the 240-watt motor seems capable enough to juice hard and soft produce, as well as leafy vegetables and wheatgrass.
To make smoothies, just insert the smoothie strainer. The pulp is retained with the juice and comes out of the drip-free spout. Although it might take a little longer to make smoothies using a masticating juicer, the results are very smooth and healthy.
Also included with the Kuvings B6000SR juicer is a blank strainer for making sorbet from frozen ingredients like banana or strawberries. It can also be used for making baby food from steamed fruit and vegetables.
- Slow masticating juicer that produces healthier juice than centrifugal
- Also makes healthier smoothies, sorbets, and baby food
- Modern, attractive design
- Extracts juice from all types of produce, hard, soft, leafy, and wheatgrass
- BPA-free components for chemical-free juice
- Includes cleaning tool and brush for quick and easy cleanup
- Ten-year manufacturer’s warranty
- Not a blender, only makes smoothies.
- Small pulp container must be emptied often when making more than a couple of glasses of juice.
- Large quantities of juice cannot be made without taking time to disassemble and clean out the bowl. Otherwise,
pulpwill accumulate in the bowl and spill over into the extracted juice or clog the discharge spout.
If you want a personal-sized juicer, smoothie, sorbet maker combo and don’t need the functionality of a full-blown blender, check out the

Oliver Smith Slow Masticating Juicer Extractor With Sorbet & Smoothie Attachments
The Oliver Smith Slow Masticating Juicer Extractor is primarily a juicer with smoothie and sorbet attachments. So if you are looking to make healthy juices and smoothies without the bells and whistles of a full-fledged blender, then this appliance deserves your consideration.
It has a 300-watt motor that runs the juicing screw at a slow 65 rpm. This prevents adding heat and oxidation to the juice thus extracting the maximum amount of nutrients, enzymes, vitamins, and minerals from the produce.
Included with the juicer are smoothie and sorbet strainers. Smoothies and sorbets will have the same health benefits of the slow masticating process. No heat or oxidation is added thus preserving nutrients, taste, and aroma. Shelf life of the juice and smoothies is extended when stored in sealed refrigerated containers.
Pre-cutting of most whole fruit and vegetables is not required because of its 3″ wide mouth.
Noise from the process, 45-60 db, is considerably less than centrifugal juicers and blenders that run at much higher speeds.
Materials in contact with the food are FDA approved BPA-free so you don’t have to worry about mixing dangerous chemicals into your juice or smoothie.
Cleanup is quick and easy, all parts of the juicer are dishwasher-safe.
The motor is protected from overheating, power sags and surges, improper assembly, idle run, and other damaging events. If stopped in this manner, it can be restarted in 1 hour. This is much better than spending money on costly repairs or replacement of the machine.
To clear up product jams and clogs it is equipped with a reverse button to save having to disassemble the mechanism.
Warranty is 1-year on all parts except for the motor which is guaranteed for 5-years.
- Produces healthier drinks than centrifugal juicers or rapidly spinning blenders
- BPA-free juicing bowl, feed chute, drum lid, pusher, juicing screw, strainers, and containers
- Easy to clean
- Incorporates motor protection devices and Reverse speed for clearing jams
- Tough ingredients with tough stems, e.g. celery stalks can wrap around the juicing screw. They must be cut into smaller chunks.
- No foam control. To remove foam you will have to strain your drink.
- Very hard produce can cause overload or even break the machine.
- Very soft may not produce much juice. Leafy greens get clogged in the screw.
- No additional blender functions. Smoothie maker only.
- 1-year limited warranty on repairs/replacement. 5-year warranty on motor. This is less than a similar machine e.g. Kuvings B6000SR.

Oster Juice And Blend 2 Go GPSTJE3166-022 Juice Extractor And Personal Blender
Combining a juicer and a personal blender for a low price is not easy. The Oster Juice And Blend 2 Go GPSTJE3166-022 Juice Extractor And Personal Blender
The motor is 400-watts for both juicing and blending. Separate attachments are used for the two functions. The blender and juicer blades are both stainless steel.
Because it is a centrifugal juicer, heat and oxidation are added to the juice. Heat deteriorates enzymes and nutrients for less healthy drinks. Oxidation leads to less aroma, taste, and rapid loss of freshness. Juice and smoothies should be consumed right after being made.
The juicer has a narrow feed chute that requires cutting larger fruit and vegetables to be cut into smaller pieces thus increasing prep time.
It has a large capacity 50-oz (1.5 L) pulp container for juicing more glasses of juice. But, the spout is very low so that only small glasses can be used. To make a large quantity you have to keep pouring the small glass into a larger container.
The 20-oz (591 ml) personal blender cup comes with a To-Go lid. It is very convenient if you are in a hurry and need to quickly make a morning smoothie to take with you. The cup is also BPA-free.
It is easy to use and easy to convert between juicer and smoothie functions. The blender is easy to clean but the juicer mesh screen is more difficult and time-consuming.
- Inexpensive for a dual purpose appliance
- Juicer and Personal Blender combo
- Blender can be used to chop, purée, and liquefy, as well as blend smoothies
- Compact size
- Large pulp collector for more continuous juicing
- Adequate, but not a great juicer
- Small feed chute requires cutting produce into smaller chunks
- Lots of complaints about leaks
- Juice spout is very low, only smaller glasses can fit under
- Limited 1-year warranty, you pay shipping costs in case of repairs
The Oster Juice And Blend 2 Go GPSTJE3166-022 Juice Extractor And Personal Blender is an example of the design compromises that are made when two appliances with completely different functions are combined. The performance of both machines suffer. Although not a bad machine, it just isn’t as good as individually designed blenders or juicers.
However, if you want an inexpensive blender that has the capability of making juice once in a while, check it out on Amazon by clicking below:
A word of caution. There are machines out there that claim to be juicer blender combos. However, they lack essential elements of one or the other. For example, a search on Google for juicer blender combos will show the Nutribullet Juicer Blender Combo NBR-08. This is a 600-watt blender, nothing more. A good one, but not a juicer. It has no way of separating the pulp from the juice and therefore cannot be called a juicer.
